UC Berkeley to Host Ai Weiwei in Conversation with Peter Sellars and Orville Schell

Join renowned Chinese artist-activist Ai Weiwei for a conversation about art, politics, and modern life, with theater director Peter Sellars and Orville Schell, Director of the Center on US-China Relations at the Asia Society and former Dean at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. 

Ai’s unprecedented 2014 exhibition @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz left an enduring mark on the Bay Area’s cultural landscape. The Los Angeles Times called the exhibition, organized by the FOR-SITE Foundation, “an always-poignant, often-powerful meditation on soul-deadening repressions of human thought and feeling.” In this conversation, Ai addresses issues of exile, imprisonment, repression, and advocacy that have infused his personal life and artistic work with Sellars, an avid student of Chinese history and culture, and Schell, a leading expert on China and the Far East.

Ai Weiwei's World of Art Lost and Found is co-presented by Cal Performances, BAMPFA, and Townsend Center for the Humanities.

Tickets to the general public are on sale from 12 noon on Tuesday, August 8.
